Detox Your Kitchen Before You Begin Your Body Detox (part 3)

It’s Time To Grocery  Shop for Your Health

It all starts in the grocery store. This is where a good diet begins and ends. Food is the foundation for a healthy lifestyle. Always  shop with a list that matches the planned  healthy menu items for the family. Invite them into the planning with suggestions for their family.

80 percent of the food you purchase should come from the Healthy Food category. Use recipes that feature healthy ingredients, and keep a supply of herbs, garlic and any of your other favorite seasonings.

Grocery stores are designed to keep you in the store as long as possible and separate you from your hard earned cash faster than you can blink. The essentials items such as (milk, bread, produce) are located on the extreme corners of the store. Lots of tempting fattening foods will be passed even if you are just running in for a package of  organic chicken.

The most expensive products are placed at adult and children respectively. They have cartoons on them often times for the kids pleasure don’t give in! Everything is strategiacally placed to entice you to impluse buy. Before you shop eat you breakfast or lunch don’t go hungry ladies. You have to make a plan for ultimate success, chose a shopping time, draft a list. Look through supermarket fliers, internet offers and newspapers offers. Find the deals for your family and your pocket book.

Now that you have detoxed you kitchen and refridgerator it’s time for you seasonal body detox!

Detox Your Kitchen Before You Begin Your Body Detox (part 2)

 Food Choices

Junk Foods have  almost no nutritional value, you have to learn how to just say NO. They do have lots and lots of  empty calories , and include ingredients( that caused you to want to clean out your cabinets and your body with  a detox program) like high fructose corn syrup, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, sugar, processed meats, fats, or are cooked in fats. Some examples are:

  • candy
  •  highly processed  meats
  • sugar coated kids’ cereals
  • processed cheese in cans
  • high fat lunch meats
  • high fat potato chips
  • high fat corn chips
  • diet and regular soft drinks
  • frozen french fries
  • packaged dessert items

Junk foods can also include any packaged or canned foods that have passed their expiration dates.  Clean it all out chose wisely when you go to replace the products you dumped in your body before you dumped them into the trash can.

OK Food includes items that aren’t super healthy, but maybe not so bad for you either. Keep in mind that health food stores often have healthy versions of many of these items. Here I would include foods like:

  • most canned  foods ,soups, stews, and pasta meals
  • white bread
  • breakfast cereals that are not sugar coated, but not whole grain
  • sugar-sweetened yogurt
  • most salad dressings
  • condiments like ketchup and mayonnaise
  • jellies and jams
  • dry mixes like macaroni and cheese
  • pasta and noodles made from regular white flour
  • red meats,

The Okay Foods are alright to consume  occasionally (occasionally is defined as 1-3 times per week maximum), they shouldn’t make up the bulk of your daily menu ever.

The Good Foods would be the healthy foods. These are foods that are good for you, such as:

  • fresh vegetables
  • fresh whole fruit
  • fresh greens
  • lean meats and poultry
  • fish fillets, steaks, or chunks of tuna or salmon
  • frozen vegetables
  • whole grain bread
  • whole grain pasta
  • low fat marinara sauces
  • olive oil
  • low fat dairy or soy products
  • whole grain cereals
  • frozen fruits
  • frozen juice bars with no sugar added
  • a variety of nuts and nut butters
  • fresh eggs

These are the foods that should make up 85%  of your meals. You can also include most convenience foods purchased from health food stores when the rules apply ex: no HFCS, white bread etc .

Detox Your Kitchen Before You Begin To Detox Your Body (part 1)

Hunger  may creep in when you least want or expect  it to. Hunger can creep in and cause a major distraction  to your detox program. When you decide to begin to plan for your detox program decide to detox your kitchen before detoxing your body. There is nothing quite like cleaning and organizing to keep you focused and distracted from bad foods during a detox program.

Get Started!

Sort your food supplies into different groups such as Junk FoodOK Food, and Healthy Food. Go through all the food and cooking ingredients in your kitchen, and identify everything as Junk, OK, or Healthy

Now that you have all your food sorted out, it is time  to really clean up the kitchen in a big way:

  • clean all the cabinets and shelves before returning the foods you are keeping
  • clean your refrigerator, including any removable racks, trays, and drawers
  • clean and sanitize your silverware and utensil holders
  • clean and sterilize cutting boards

It is also a good time to remove the clutter from your counter tops which only serve to get in your way and decrease your working space.

Now,  The FOOD

Junk Foods have  almost no nutritional value, you have to learn how to just say NO. Dr.Lorraine Williams

"All Things Are Possible"

Thought Of The Day

"To live content with small means, to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion, to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich, to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly, to listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart, to bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await occasions, hurry never, in a word to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common, this is to be my symphony."
- William Henry Channing
